Rotary Target Setup
Made to study the residue of impacted insects.
Used to investigate 1) parameters affecting insect residue on surfaces and 2) coating effectiveness to mitigate insect contamination on surfaces.
Composed of a particle launcher and a rotating wing, this novel setup allows a range of impact velocity ranging from 10 to 100 m/s, versatile targets like flat, curved, or airfoil, and diverse materials, aluminum coating or not, glass, polycarbonate. This setup allows us to 1) keep the insect intact before the impact and 2) keep the insect residue under airflow.
