Dr. Panahi is currently a Postdoctoral Visitor at the Surface Engineering and Instrumentation Lab (SEiL), contributing to the development of electrostatic lunar dust mitigation technologies in collaboration with a leading space technology company.

Dr. Abbas Panahi completed his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at York University, where his research focused on developing a portable charge-sensitive semiconductor device. His work involved the design, simulation, and fabrication of field-effect charge sensing systems based on a microelectromechanical systems foundry process. He holds a B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from Shahid Bahonar University of Kerman (Iran) and an M.Sc. in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Tehran (Iran), where he studied fluid–solid interactions in electrostatically actuated microdevices. He has received several awards and recognitions, including the Mitacs Accelerate Internship Award, the Innovation York Commercialization Fellowship, and a scholarship from SFU’s Beedie School of Business, where he completed a graduate certificate in Science and Technology Commercialization (2022-2023).
